PARIS (January 23, 2005) - In a press conference today in Paris, Mr. Dan Brown, the famous author of the Da Vinci Code novel, announced that he has discovered and partially cracked a secret code built into President Bush's inaugural speech.
Commenting on criticism that President Bush's speech lacked facts and substantial policy information, Mr. Brown claimed that the inaugural speech indeed "contained very specific programs" that "President Bush wants to enact in the next four years." Mr. Brown disclosed that the speech was written using a code devised by Mr. Mike Gerson, the chief speech-writer for President Bush.
Working non-stop during the last 48 hours, Mr. Brown was able to break "The Mike Gerson Code," however not completely. Even with only "20% of the code" was deciphered at this time, several tidbits of President Bush's second-term programs can be made available. Mr. Brown gave some exhibits how he broke the code. In one example, the key for "Iraq" was 96-13-25-124, and for "France" was 17-13-25-86-3-172, using the first letter of the numbered words in the text.
Mr. Brown also showed other more complex deciphering techniques, explaining the key for "stem cell research" was 25-R, for "social security private account" was A380-7E7, for "permanent tax cut" was USD-666, and for "that crazy French-looking Kerry dude" was X04-AV.
Mr. Brown believed that within the next 72 hours, he will completely crack "The Mike Gerson Code" and will post the so deciphered inaugural speech on the Internet.
