PETA warns Bush not to kill chickens because of avian flu

Norfolk (October 9, 2005) – Ms. Ingrid Newkirk, president of the powerful Norfolk-based organization PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) issued a stern warning to President Bush today, not to kill chickens under the “false premise” of the looming pandemic avian flu. Recent history showed that President Bush “shamelessly used the WMD lies” to go to war in Iraq. The American people should not be “deceived the second time” and PETA would protect the life of “innocent chickens” against “Bush’s avian flu lies,” said Ms. Newkirk. In case of an outbreak of the avian flu in the US, PETA would provide “shelters” for all chickens, regardless of “ages, skin colors, ethnic and social backgrounds.” Ms. Newkirk demanded an emergency federal funding of 20 billion dollars and FEMA housing support for this “chicken shelters” program.
