Chirac sends “French surrender specialists” to assist House Democrats

Paris (November 18, 2005) – One day after a senior House Democrat, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pennsylvania) called for a swift withdrawal of American forces from Iraq, which in effect constituted a “cut-and-run” policy, French President Jacques Chirac offered the House Democratic Leadership full support for this new policy. He will send a team of 25 high-ranking French generals of the Armée de Terre to assist Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the Democratic House Minority Leader, in setting up a “surrender protocol” to the Iraqi insurgents. Based on France’s historically proven and undisputable expertise in “surrender techniques,” this task could be “accomplished within 24 hours,” President Chirac said.
