Strasbourg (November 26, 2005) – The Council of Europe, a multi-governmental European organization based in Strasbourg, France, has increased its pressure to investigate CIA’s special aviation operations in Europe. They have requested satellite information to track allegedly illegal CIA flights carrying prisoners across European countries. The Swiss liberal Dick Marty who led this investigation, has built on CIA information about so-called “black sites" including secret prisons outside the US that the Washington Post disclosed without impunity in early November. Although this action clearly had impacted the national security and now led to foreign interference, no legal action was even considered against the Washington Post at that time.
