Washington DC (January 18, 2006) – Senator Hillary Clinton once again returned to her vitriolic, sulfurous attack mode early this week. At a Martin Luther King event on Monday, she accused the Republicans of running the US House of Representatives “like a plantation, and you know what I'm talking about.” This is not the first time that she used this racially loaded term to describe her political opponents. In November 2004, after the Democratic devastating loss in the Presidential election, Mrs. Clinton said “(the Republicans) are running the House of Representatives like a fiefdom with Tom DeLay as, you know, in charge of the plantation.” Maybe it time for House Speaker Dennis Hastert to defend the honor of the House. He should forcefully denounce and refute Senator Clinton’s venomous, race-baiting demagogy in order to prevent further degradation of the political discourse in this country.
