Cardinals lose National League championship, destroy stadium

St. Louis (October 20, 2005) – The Houston Astros won the 2005 National League Championship Series by beating the St. Louis Cardinals 5 - 1 in Game 6 at Busch stadium last night. This was a huge disappointment for St. Louis after the team won a record of 100 games this season and was close to reach the World Series again two years in a row. The Busch stadium will be demolished by wrecking balls within the next few days, with the new stadium already emerging only a few yards away. No truth to the rumors that the Cardinals always destroy their stadium when they lose a championship series.
