Undistracted by hurricane and avian flu, Iraq progress continues

Baghdad (October 23, 2005) – While the world mass media has been obsessed with the slumbering Wilma hurricane in America and the spreading avian flu in Europe, Iraq silently continued its march toward progress last week. First, more than 10 million Iraqis participated in the October 15 constitutional referendum, which went over without noticeable interference from the insurgent terrorists. Then the Saddam Hussein trial finally started on October 19, which in itself marked the beginning of the cleansing process for passed terror, genocide and oppression. The casualties of the US Armed Forces are still below the 2000 mark, with 1,996 deaths as of Sunday. To put it in perspective, the US war casualties were 600,000 in the Civil War, 118,000 in World War I, 405,000 in World War II and 58,000 in the Vietnam War. On the other hand, the American Left continued to root for more American death, they “feel nothing over the death of mercenaries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are they are trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit, Screw them!” as Mr. Markos Moulitsas Zúniga, the leader of the Democrat base proclaimed.
