If MLK were still alive today…

Atlanta (January 16, 2006) – The American Civil Rights icon, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., assassinated in 1968, would have turned 77 yesterday. If MLK were alive today, what would he say to problems of contemporay America. Using his historic “I Have A Dream” speech , here is what he could say to address today’s issues.

MLK to the Democratic Party and the vitriolic radical Left Wing: “We must forever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. … We must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.”

MLK to President Bush’s global war on terror: “We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back… Let us not wallow in the valley of despair… In spite of the difficulties and frustrations of the moment, I still have a dream.”

MLK to the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and Lebanon: “Let freedom ring from the mighty mountains of Afghanistan. Let freedom ring from the heightening Carpathian mountains of Ukraine…. Let freedom ring from Beirut of Lebanon. Let freedom ring from Baghdad of Iraq. Let freedom ring from every hill and every molehill of the whole world. From every mountainside, let freedom ring.”
