CNN exit poll shows Zarqawi winning by large margin

BAGHDAD (January 30, 2005) - Hours into the national election day in Iraq, a surprising development seemed to be materializing in Iraq. According to exit poll, conducted by CNN International, Mr. Zarqawi, the terrorist leader, appeared to be the big winner of this election by a margin as wide as 22 points. Most of the official 111 electoral candidate lists remained below the "detection level," CNN reported.
Media observers were flabbergasted because "Mr. Zarqawi was not even on any voting list." A spokesman for CNN Headquarters in Atlanta however confirmed the authenticity of the exit poll results, and defended the exit polling technique. "Our historically excellent record on exit polls speaks for itself."
