Kennedy, Clinton denounce Bush’s Flight 93 Memorial proposal
New York City (September 10, 2005) - At a joint press conference late Saturday evening in Manhattan, Democratic Senators Edward Kennedy and Hillary Clinton vehemently protested President Bush’s pr0posal, to make the White House and the Capitol Hill the symbolic Flight 93 Memorial. Once again, President Bush "is misusing the national assets for pure political purpose,” the senators said. If President Bush goes ahead with this proposal, both senators would “consider emergency legislation on Monday” and if necessary to file suit to stop this “political abuse by the Republican right wing.” As a warning for President Bush, both senators announced that they would not attend the 9/11 Memorial Service with President Bush tomorrow. Instead both senators Kennedy and Clinton will attend the season opening NFL game at the Washington Redskins.
