Washington DC (November2, 2005) – In a surprising move, the Senate Democrats have shut down the Senate Tuesday afternoon. They invoked Rule 21, a rarely used Senate rule, to enforce a close session. Only the 100 Senators and some selected aides were allowed in the chamber. No C-SPAN, no reporters were permitted to cover the session. The American people were practically excluded from what was going on behind the closed doors. Nobody seemed to know what really hapened inside. However, some photos are beginning to leak out. Senators Reid (D-Nevada) and Durbin (D-Illinois) appeared to be in an ebullient party mood as shown in one photo here. CBS News even claimed they have obtained a direct video feed from inside the chamber, showing most of the Democratic Senators were dancing and partying on the podium while their Republican counterparts were gathering in a somber mood around Senator Frist's desk. CBS News planned to put the secret Senate video feed on their website starting Wednesday noon.
